The Double Bedroom Housing Scheme, also known as the 2BHK Scheme, is a flagship housing project designed by the Government of Telangana to make cities and rural areas slum-free. The scheme provides free-of-cost, high-quality, permanent housing to the shelter-less poor in rural and urban areas of Telangana. In rural areas, the houses are built on a 200 square yard plot, while in urban areas, modern high-rise apartments are constructed, incorporating advanced technologies like tunnel form technology for structural stability. Crucially, the houses are registered directly in the name of the beneficiaries (with women priority) and cannot be sold, preserving inheritance within the family.
