Terms of use
The legal bit, in plain language.
What we offer, what we don't, and how you and we both agree to use this service.

1. Who we are
NirmanKit is an independent service that aggregates publicly-available information about Indian government schemes. We are not the Government of India, any ministry, the DPIIT, MSDE, MeitY, NeGD, SIDBI, AIM, or any state government. We have no official endorsement and do not speak for any government body.
2. What we offer
- A free service to discover, sequence, save, and revisit Indian government schemes you may be eligible for.
- Plain-language summaries of those schemes with citations to the official government source for each claim.
- An optional account so you can save and edit your personal roadmap.
3. What we don't offer
- We don't give legal, tax, or financial advice. Information on this site is general; verify with the official source and a qualified professional before acting on anything material.
- We don't submit applications on your behalf. We deep-link to the official government portal where you complete and submit your application yourself.
- We don't charge you. Ever. If anyone offers to apply for a government scheme on your behalf for a fee, they are not us — see the trust centre.
- We don't guarantee scheme outcomes. Government approval is the government's decision, not ours.
4. Information accuracy
We re-verify every scheme at least every 90 days (see methodology). Despite best efforts, scheme parameters change. The cited official source is always the authoritative version — if our content disagrees with the source, the source wins. If you spot an error, please tell us via the contact page; we triage within 1 business day and fix within 7.
5. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe.
- You agree not to use the service to attempt unauthorised access, scrape at abusive rates, or submit deliberately false data to influence our analytics.
- You can delete your account at any time (one-click, see the privacy notice).
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Misrepresent the service as government-affiliated.
- Republish our scheme content while removing the source citations or falsely implying our endorsement of changes.
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically harvest content at rates that affect service availability (our rate limits are documented in our API spec).
- Use any AI-generated drafts (e.g., the DPIIT innovation-statement drafter) without reviewing and editing — see the disclaimer there.
7. Intellectual property + licences
- Code — our application code is released under the MIT licence; see the public repository.
- Scheme content (prose) — published under CC-BY-4.0. You may republish; please cite us.
- Eligibility rules dataset — published under ODbL 1.0. You may fork, audit, and contribute back.
8. Limitation of liability
The service is provided as is and as available. To the extent permitted by Indian law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses arising from your reliance on the information here. For material decisions, verify with the official source.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law — including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, where misleading information causes loss.
9. Privacy
Your privacy is governed by our privacy notice, which is DPDP-Act-aligned and incorporated into these terms.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-product 14 days before they take effect.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at the city of our registered office (to be confirmed once our entity is formally incorporated).
