Additional Details
Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) is a flagship national residential schooling scheme integrated under Samagra Shiksha. It aims to reduce gender disparities in education by establishing upper primary and secondary residential schools with free boarding facilities.
The scheme ensures that quality education is accessible and feasible for girls belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), minority communities, and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. In all KGBVs, 75% of enrollment is strictly reserved for girls from SC, ST, OBC, and minority groups, with the remaining 25% allocated to girls from BPL families.
