The Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) is a flagship social security scheme launched by the Government of Odisha under the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Formed by merging the Revised Old Age Pension Rules, 1989 and Disability Pension Rules, 1985, the scheme aims to provide direct financial assistance to vulnerable groups in society. MBPY provides monthly cash benefits to senior citizens (aged 60 and above), widows, disabled individuals (including blind, deaf, and mute), leprosy patients, transgender individuals, and AIDS/HIV patients. The pension is disbursed regularly on the 15th of every month (Jan Seva Diwas) directly via bank accounts or cash counters.
