Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), formerly known as Pradhan Mantri Digital Health Mission, is a landmark digital public infrastructure initiative by the Government of India. It aims to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country.
Under ABDM, citizens can generate their unique 14-digit Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID. The ABHA ID enables patients to link, store, and share their digital health records (prescriptions, diagnostic reports, discharge summaries) securely with empaneled healthcare providers and doctors across the country, ensuring continuity of care and paperless consultations.
The initiative also establishes registries for healthcare professionals (HPR) and health facilities (HFR) to digitize and standardize clinical services.
