Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched in May 2016 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) to safeguard the health of women and children by providing them with clean cooking fuel (LPG). Under the scheme, deposit-free LPG connections are provided to adult women from BPL families and other disadvantaged groups, along with a financial assistance of ₹1,600 per connection and targeted cylinder subsidies.
