The Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline Project, also known as the Jagdishpur-Haldia Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL) project, is a central sector initiative launched in October 2016 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. With a total length of 2,540 km under development, the project aims to establish natural gas grid connectivity across five eastern states: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. It supplies clean Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to vehicles, and natural gas feedstock to industrial clusters, including chemical fertilizer units.
