The Midday Meal Scheme, officially renamed PM Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN), is a centrally sponsored school meal program in India designed to enhance the nutritional status of school-age children. It provides free, hot cooked lunches on working days to children enrolled in government and government-aided primary and upper primary schools, Anganwadis, and Madrasas. The scheme is covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 and is the largest school feeding program in the world, serving millions of children daily.
